Chris Davis, MD, FAEMS, FAWM, DiMM

Chris is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Associate Program Director of the Wilderness Medicine Fellowship at Wake Forest University. He completed fellowships in EMS and Wilderness Medicine, is a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, and holds a Diploma in Mountain Medicine from the University of New Mexico. Chris has practiced and taught wilderness medicine since 2004—first as a paramedic and now as a physician. He serves as an EMS medical director for multiple agencies and as a medical advisor to outdoor education programs, and conducts research focused on drowning prevention, resuscitation, and education. He continues to work in the field, teaching and guiding on rivers both locally and internationally, and remains active in the rescue community as a member of a local mountain rescue team. He is a high-angle and swiftwater rescue instructor for the National Park Service, an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, and an ACA Level 5 Swiftwater Rescue Instructor, Level 5 Rafting Instructor, and Level 5 Raft Guide Examiner. Chris is passionate about experiential education and specializes in realistic, scenario-based training for complex, high-stakes environments. In his free time, he can usually be found on a river somewhere.
