Eric Hawkins MD, MPH, FAWM
Eric serves as an Emergency and EMS Physician at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He earned his undergraduate degree, medical degree, and Master of Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) before relocating to Charlotte to complete his Emergency Medicine residency and EMS Fellowship at CMC. Presently, he holds the position of Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Wake Forest School of Medicine and Faculty for the Carolinas EMS Fellowship where he aims to enhance the curriculum with more focus on wilderness medicine and search and rescue training.
In addition, Eric acts as the Associate Medical Director for CMC Special Events Medicine, providing medical support for a variety of events including those for the Carolina Panthers, NCAA football, Charlotte FC, the PGA, NASCAR, and numerous outdoor concerts and gatherings throughout the Charlotte region.
Eric has earned his FAWM through the Wilderness Medical Society and is actively pursuing both the DiMM and DiDMM, aspiring to apply these skills in remote and adventurous environments. He is also a certified Wilderness Life Support-Medical Provider (WLS-MP) instructor and lecturer with a strong interest in wilderness medicine education with aims to to merge this passion with his love for hiking, mountain biking, camping, sailing and kayaking.
