This conference will provide both didactic and hands-on opportunities to
build your knowledge on how to manage common emergencies in austere
environments and improvise with limited resources. Nationally renowned
healthcare providers with careers focused in wilderness medicine will host
sessions ranging from cave/confined space rescues, wilderness
toxicology/envenomation, WEMS medical command/field response, ultrasound,
hypothermia, ropes, patient packaging, medical kits, and suture
workshops.

Schedule:
Friday 5/1: 1800: sign in and pick up shirt, schedule, name tag. Fire and s’mores/BYOB around the campfire
Saturday 5/2 conference : Start off with breakfast and spend the day learning through engaging lectures and hands on workshops! Plus delicious lunch from Pies and Pints!

Sunday 5/3: Stay tuned for optional fun with friends!

Lecture/ Workshop Schedule:

Saturday 5/2:

0730- 0800 Registration/ Breakfast

0800-0815: Welcome and intro
0815-0845: Keynote: Henderson McGinnis
0845-0915: Psychological First Aid – Kerilyn Kimball
0915-0945: Envenomations – Jessie Remy
1000-1045: Health Net fly in and demo (close by, but must drive to LZ and return)
1100-1200: LUNCH (Pies and Pints supplied by WV ACEP)

1205-1700: Small Group Rotations (~60 minutes each)
1) Ropes and Rescue

2) Building a wilderness rescue pack

3) Ultrasound – A tool for austere diagnosis

4) Water rescue and resuscitation

5) Land navigation

6) Tacos and Burritos: Hot and Cold

7) Wound care and sutures.

Sunday 5/2:

Enjoy the New River Gorge – Choose your own adventure – from hiking, paddling to climbing!

Camping Options:

FIELD CAMPING FULL – no spots remain – please book accommodations online as below.

When you register can reserve one of the field tent camping spots (large shared field – park close but not beside tent) which are currently designated for our group by choosing the checkout option for the night(s) you plan on staying.

Additional Lodging at Outpost:
