Virginia Student and Resident 2-Week Elective: September 2024
All residents & students welcome to come join us for our 2-week elective in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia September 16-28! Open to MD, DO, PA, NP, EMS students, residents, and fellows!
Participants will spend time participating in experiential learning, high-fidelity simulation and didactics. Based in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding Roanoke, VA, with day trips outside the area.
This includes two weeks of high-quality, hands-on education in wilderness medicine, select meals for day trips, final day cookout dinner, swift water rescue course and certification, technical rope course, discover scuba, and more!
You can expect:
• Small group discussions of wilderness scenarios
• Formal lectures of Wilderness Medicine principles and specific topics by leaders in the field
• Instruction in survival and pre-hospital patient assessment and evacuation
• Scenario based medical and rescue training and mass casualty simulations
