You are cordially invited to the 12th Annual SE Student Wildness Medicine Conference on March 8-10, 2019, hosted by the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. It will be a weekend chock full of wilderness medicine learning, hands-on practice, networking, food, and drinks with plenty of rad new friends. Whether you're a medical or PA student, EMT, paramedic, military personnel, or just an outdoor enthusiast, you won't want to miss this!

Your registration includes a full day of small-group breakout classes taught by passionate experts in their fields, a day of hands-on scenario-based practice, three meals Saturday, catered evening reception, breakfast and lunch Sunday, a T-shirt with the above awesome logo, and other goodies.
Keynote Address

Asst. Prof. of Emergency Medicine at University of Florida COM, Medical Director of the Venom One and Venom Two response units, Medical Team Manager of FEMA/Miami-Dade Urban Search & Rescue (USAR).
Itinerary
Friday 3/8
5-9 pm at West Salem Public House:
  • Packet pick-up and welcome
  • Optional drinks and hangout
Saturday 3/9
8 am - 5 pm at the Bowman Gray Center for Medical Education:
  • 8 am - 9 am: breakfast, welcome, and keynote address by Dr. Ben Abo
  • 9 am - 12 pm: AM breakout classes
  • 12 pm-  1 pm: lunch
  • 1 pm - 5 pm: PM breakout classes
5:30 pm - 8:30 pm at Fiddlin' Fish Brewing Company:
  • Catered dinner and networking reception
Sunday 3/10
9 am - 1 pm at Hobby Park:
  • 9 am - 9:15 am: breakfast and overview of the day
  • 9:15 am - 1 pm: hands-on scenarios and simulations to put your skills into action​
Topics
Saturday classes will be in a breakout format with small groups led by an expert speaker. Most classes will be limited to 8-10 participants each to allow maximum face time with instructors. Certain classes will also include a hands-on component. You will register for classes that interest you prior to the conference and have a personal schedule for the day.

  • climbing rescue (hands-on)
  • ultrasound in austere environments (hands-on)
  • management of frostbite​
